What is slime?
A surprisingly humble cultural phenomenon, slime is a mixture of household items that come together to create a polymer substance that acts like both a solid and a liquid, depending on how you play with it. This is called a non -Newtonian fluid.
Slime was a toy product manufactured by Mattel, sold in a plastic trash can and introduced in February 1976. It consisted of a non-toxic viscous, squishy and oozy green or other color material made primarily from guar gum.
How to make slime ?
Pour 1 cup of white glue into a mixing bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Mix the contents of the bowl thoroughly. Add more or less glue depending on your desired consistency.

Here’s what this recipe used:
The mixing part for this recipe is very easy. Simply mix the water and borax together in one bowl. Then mix the glue and water together in another bowl. You can add food coloring to either bowl.
After this, mix the contents of the two bowls together. It will begin to form the slime consistency you are expecting. You’ll likely need to begin kneading it on the table after it reaches a critical mass.
How to make slime without glue?
- 1/2 cup. thick gel shampoo, such as Suave or Johnson's 3-in-1 Kids.
- 2 to 3 drops. food coloring (optional)
- 2 1/2 cups. cornstarch.
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup. cool water.
